Where and how do you get free cell phone ringtones? Free phone ringtones are one of the most sought after commodities and one of the most common searches on Google, because we don’t get to choose the ringtones that our phones come with and sometimes the custom selections are boring and unsatisfying. We want cooler ringtones, and no one wants to pay for them if you can get them without paying anything at all. As it turns out, free cell phone ringtones are pretty hard to find, at least by Googling. You’ll come up with a billion hits but lots of them are just dead ends, or you have to join something shady looking and you’re bombarded by annoying ads, or possibly infected with a computer virus.

One of the best and closest to free options out there is Myxer, which is a website where you can make your own free phone ringtones. You do have to join to get the full ringtone downloading and making experience, but it’s legit and worth it. With Myxer, you can upload song and sound files from your computer and customize them however you like. You can choose where in the song you want the ring to begin, and where you want to end it. There’s also a fade out option and you can adjust how loud you want the ringtone to be. When you’re finished, you can play it and test it out to see if it’s what you want, and then you’re ready to send it to your phone. After naming the ringtone, you have myxer send it to you in the form of a text message with an image file. You save the file on your phone and you have your new free phone ringtone ready to go. If you have some sort of texting plan with your mobile phone, this should be free for you. If not, it probably costs up to 20 cents at most which is a pretty darn good deal for a cell phone ringtone you can adjust exactly to your preferences. This is really as close to free cell phone ringtones as you can get!

So either free cell phone ringtones don’t exist, or they’re really, really hard to find without being search savvy or having connections, but Myxer is an excellent alternative. If super cheap customized free phone ringtones don’t satisfy you, you might as well ring up the powers that be and ask for money to grow on trees.
